Our summer sweats collection features new and bespoke screen-printed graphics designed by our in-house team – and all drawn by hand.

The graphics printed on our hoodies and T-shirts are as iconic, to us, as our fleet of Landies, partying on the beach and our signature pink and blue stripes. That’s how it all began; selling printed jumpers and T-shirts out of our very first store in Salcombe, and it’s what has allowed us to take our brand around the world. Although what we print has evolved over the years – from the classic ‘Jack stack’ and the heritage Serif font to the seasonal reimaginings, their importance to us is indisputable.

For summer 2017, the graphic designers took our newest crop of sweat tops, tees and joggers back to the drawing board – quite literally. For the wider collection the team was inspired by The First Overland. A tale of intrepid explorers crossing continents took each category in a different direction – loud prints for some, military-inspired detailing for others – and for the sweats they looked at travelling in comfort and style. Scouring vintage stores and image archives the teams looked at adventure tour operators and vintage travel company logos. A recurring motif was, of course, the sun, with the sea coming a close second, so using pencil and watercolours the team set about designing their options before selecting the final design you see today.
