JACK WILLS: LADIES’ SWIMWEAR
You can't holiday without it, so our wide range of new swim styles has been designed to suit every kind of beach vibe, whether you’re a surfer, sunbather or somewhere in between
Thousands of years ago, swimming and bathing were done naked. We’re very thankful this fashion has changed – for quite a few reasons – and that, whether you’re a one-piece kind of woman or drawn to a mix & match ensemble, anything goes nowadays. This meant our designer Antonia could draw from decades of swim styles for inspiration and her colleagues’ own preferences (a set of women with a range of holiday styles and personal swim bugbears).
Most importantly, she wanted to make sure our swimwear can keep up with you, whatever’s on your holiday agenda – our wider summer collection was inspired by travel and exploration so the practical elements necessary for surfing, swimming and beach sports were taken into account. We know that when you’re wearing swimwear, it’s the most exposed you’ll be in public so feeling confident, in sexy yet classic and understated styles, is key.
So our swim range this summer, more extensive than ever, channels a retro chic vibe, with plenty of flattering high necklines and stripes – a Jack favourite and sported by the likes of Marilyn Monroe back in the 1940s. Our bikini selection is designed for mixing and matching thanks to a curated colour palette – made up of classic monochrome, heritage stripes and a vibrant statement print – and the fact that tops and bottoms can all be bought separately. In a nod to our heritage, founded as we were in the seaside town of Salcombe, all styles are named after our favourite British beaches, from Whitesands Bay in Wales to Botany Bay on the east coast.
Of our three new swimsuits, the high-necked, sleek Formby, based on last year’s popular style, has been given a slightly higher leg, with the sporty girl in mind. The Porthcurno, also with a high neck and offering light support, has a half moon cut-out above the navel – this results in a flattering silhouette and a piece that could double as a leotard if worn with high-waisted shorts. Despite its clean, chic criss-cross back straps, the scooped-neck Sandbanks swimsuit has plenty of support thanks to internal cups and an elasticated bust band.
When it comes to bikinis, Antonia has designed a range with active girls at the heart of it. Whether you prefer a triangle, bandeau, bustier or crop top, all our styles, in a practical nylon-elastane mix, offer support and comfort – our logic is if you feel comfortable, you’ll feel confident and you’ll look it too. Some styles feature straps that are adjustable and removable so the bikini can be worn as a halter, two strap or strapless (= beach bar, swim, sunbathe, repeat). Others include light padding for support and shaping, and back clasps with three size settings, offering a more secure fit.
